A different molecule from Mounjaro
Orforglipron acts at the GLP-1 receptor. The drug is a non-peptide small molecule. Semaglutide is a peptide medicine, and tirzepatide acts at both GIP and GLP-1 receptors. Foundayo is no oral form of Mounjaro, even though Lilly makes both brands.
The UK product comes as film-coated tablets in six strengths: 0.8 mg, 2.5 mg, 5.5 mg, 9 mg, 14.5 mg and 17.2 mg. Older trial reports often describe hard-capsule strengths, including 36 mg. Those figures belong to a different formulation. Never use them as a guide to UK tablet doses.
What the UK licence covers
For weight management, the licence sets starting-BMI criteria for adults and requires a weight-related condition if your BMI is in the overweight range. A separate adult licence covers type 2 diabetes with insufficiently controlled blood glucose. A clinician still decides whether Foundayo suits you.
You can take the tablet without food or water restrictions. This makes the routine simpler than oral semaglutide. The convenience says nothing about whether Foundayo works better, causes fewer side effects or is the best choice for you.
Licence, prescription and NHS access
A marketing authorisation sets the uses and conditions the regulator has assessed. A prescription is your clinician's decision for you alone. NHS access depends on recommendations, funding and local treatment pathways. Check each step on its own, since a licence does not put the medicine within reach of everyone.
A private service still needs to assess you, issue a genuine prescription and use a registered pharmacy. Ask the service about follow-up, what happens if treatment is unsuitable, how urgent problems are handled and when your treatment will be reviewed. The price and any introductory offer answer none of these questions.
Where to find reliable information
Start with the UK patient leaflet for practical instructions. Use the Summary of Product Characteristics for full prescribing detail. Trial papers answer narrower questions about specific groups, formulations, doses and follow-up periods. Personal reports raise useful questions but show neither how often an event happens nor what caused it.
The source-check date shows when the linked material was last checked. Changes to the official label override older explainers. Confirm your own instructions with your prescribing team.
Search with the medicine name and formulation together. The brand name alone pulls in leaflets, injection guides, overseas products and adverts. Check the country and publication date before you rely on any statement, so you apply each one to the right product and setting.
Questions for your appointment
Ask whether you are being prescribed Foundayo for weight management, diabetes or both, and how each aim will be monitored. Before your first dose, ask for a review of interactions with your other medicines and, where relevant, a contraception plan.

Your own medicine leaflet and prescriber come first. A source from another country does not mean the same rule applies in the UK.
